The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. They also have carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a great option for those who want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you are at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. best cheap robot vacuum 's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross-contamination. It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competition. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some extra cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the amount of dirt they are.
For larger houses it's worth looking for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have number of furniture. Also the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to organize an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
